Exploring Bamboo: A Flexible Exhibition Structure
A hands-on one week workshop saw a class of twelve of us working with Bamboo as a material, under the guidance of noted furniture designer, Sandeep Sangaru.
The brief was to develop an exhibition structure, using bamboo, that highlighted the properties of Bamboo.
After multiple explorations, we zeroed in on a circular concertina structure, that would vary in size and shape, taking advantage of the lightweight, tensile strength of the material while preserving its organic look and feel.
The whole structure can be collapsed to a pole that a couple of people can carry, and expands to create an inner space and supports square to rhombus panels.
