The Economist magazine educates and informs its readers by giving them a thorough understanding of current affairs.  In doing so, the readers become somewhat brainier.  And one way to show a larger brain is by showing a larger head.  This advertisement was targeted at businessmen who spend a lot of time traveling.  Hence the use of a sleep mask.  The ad appeared as posters in newsagents, bookstores, Airline Magazines and around airports.
